The UK Minister of State for Transport has confirmed that from May 25, 2007, it will be illegal to continue manufacturing and selling bull metal bars that do not conform to the new EU legislation for pedestrian protection. This was stated in Directive 2005/66/EC. The maximum penalty to be imposed in the United Kingdom is 12 months in prison and a substantial £ 20,000 fine.
Under the new directive, protection systems Front (SPF) is needed to improve vehicle safety and apply to products that are installed as original equipment or sold via the aftermarket. It will be impossible to wrap around the metal bars and Bull to meet strict new standards if the law effectively ban these products while endorsing new energy absorbing FPS products.
A bull bars is a device mounted on the front of a vehicle to protect it and its passengers against injury in a collision with an animal. It varies greatly size and shape, and is typically welded steel or aluminum tubes. Today, molded polycarbonate and polyethylene materials are new compositions truck bull bars. When you need to mount a projector or other material recovery off-road, a bull bar is a perfect fit. While many groups claim pedestrians bull bars are dangerous for pedestrians, some modern designs are actually safer the same vehicle without bulbar.
According to the Agency Vehicle Certification (VCA), only one UK manufacturer is known for putting in develop a non-rigid FPS that complies with the requirements of the legislation in May – this product is known as the Endura FPS.
Molding Concept, a car manufacturer and supplier, has produced this after sales of revolutionary products. Tests based on the 2005/66/EC legislation have proved to be 4×4 and SUV vehicles for light and light commercial vehicles up to 50 times safer. This was done in Mira, one of Europe's leading vehicle design, development centers and certification. EC approved all test data.
In the build up May 25th, more Endura FPS products will be tested and will be available for vehicles of small, medium and large enterprises. Popular brands of cars such as Toyota, Renault, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Ford Aftermarket products approved for sale under the banner Endura.
Research by the UK Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) reveal why the new EC legislation and the Endura FPS can make a major breakthrough in pedestrian safety. More than 900 UK and 12,000 European pedestrians and cyclists are killed each year. Meanwhile, more than 9,000 British and European 290,000 pedestrians and cyclists are seriously injured each year. The Endura FPS absorbs massive amounts of energy on impact, protecting pedestrians and cyclist from hard parts vehicles such as engine, bonnet leading edge and radiator. The introduction of Endura and the May legislation will reduce the staggering number of deaths and serious injuries on our roads today.
Andrew Miller, Director of Research, Thatcham responded they welcome this legislative change new that will go very far in removing those potentially deadly bull bars on British roads. He also said Thatcham welcomes see new frontal protection systems on vehicles in Great Britain, who have met the requirements of new legislation and damage reduced. However, these should not endanger road users vulnerable as pedestrians and cyclists.
